How much does it cost to have brake calipers painted?
I was interested in having my brake calipers painted professionally. I understand that it is much cheaper to do it yourself, but I do not have the kind of equipment to lift my car and remove the tires (if anyone knows of any cheap devices please mention). But how much would it cost to have my brake calipers professionally painted red. If it helps my car is a 2002 audi a6 2.7t and i have the standard brake calipers (meaning I have not upgraded them.) Lastly what is the difference between Powder Coating and regular painting and what do you suggest?
I painted mine red with a brush and a can of high heat paint 7 yrs. ago and they just now need redone this year as the paint is fading some, use the jack that came with your car and remove the tires and do the job yourself.
powder coating would last longer and would stand the heat that your brakes put out due to braking. it probably would cost afew hundered dollars.

$13……
Powder coating?… Expensive — The calipers would have to be removed by a mechanic, disassembled and prepped…. To much work…..
Proffessionaly painted?… Probably in the $100 range….
Just use your cars current jack and jack it up – remove the wheel, clean the caliper and degrease it and put Rustoleum or similar oil based alkyd enamel paint on it…. All you need is a small artists brush… You can do this yourself for about $13 and an hour or 2…..

you have a jack in your trunk and it’d only cost you about $10 and an hour of your weekend to do. i don’t know about professionally as i’ve never heard of anybody doing that …
and powder coating would help it withstand the heat of your brakes.

You can easily go and buy caliper paint at your local O’reily, autozone, etc. for about $20-$30 and then do it yourself. Its really quite simple to be honest. But keep in mind this paint is very cheap and you might have to keep repainting it every year or so.
You could also take it in and get it proffesionaly done for probably about $150-$200 (Maybe more, maybe a bit less) , and this paint will last longer, and will probably look better.
Up to you!
But do some research on doing it yourself compared to having it professionaly done.
