powder coating car wheels?
I have chrome car wheels and would like to know if they can be powdercoated? I have seen some beautiful wheels on my friends cars and would like to have the same for myself.
Doing chrome is tough. You can never be sure if it will peel in the baking process or not. (Powder gets baked on.) Even after it comes out of the oven it can still peel later. All for no really understandable reason. My shop won’t coat wheels with chrome unless they have been completely stripped or sandblasted. The biggest problem with this is cost. You will not know the cost of stripping or blasting until the job is done. This will vary because the time required will vary.
